Bought this for my precious 8 month old to crawl on in a small gated space within my dining area. Big mistake! Upon taking it out of the package it reeked of a foul chemical smell! It has Micro ban protection so maybe that was the smell. Anyway, I did not let my little one be exposed to this stuff so I returned it. Would not recommend. I was trying to be cheap but I'll go looking for something free from chemicals even if it's a bit pricey. Even a wash down was not even worth a try because I have no clue what is in these hard foam mat pieces.
Let me start off by saying my daughter just turned 5 months and is learning how to sit up on her own. So needless to say she falls down ALOT! We recently converted our kitchen nook into a play area and we needed a mat to put down over the tile floor. I have looked at numerous other mats and I have to say I LOVE this mat, I really feel like it is the biggest bang for your buck.
Positive key points:
-Each square is 18" as opposed to most play mat squares that are 12" or smaller.
-There are no small pieces for baby to choke on. (The cut-outs are big, about 12")
-Each of the tiles and cut-outs have different various textures.(She loves to touch the different textures)
-Easy to take apart and wash, and is easy wipe up the constant drool.
-Fun Bold colors(They are bolder than they look in the 1st photo, the 2nd one is more accurate)
-Unlike the other review I find there is NO noticeable odor.
Possibly negative key points:
-You may want to get 2 packs to cover enough area. But even buying 2 packs it is far less expensive than most of the other play mats.
-It is a standard thickness. If you are looking for an extra think mat this may not be the one for you. Although, like I said before, my daughter falls over alot and the tickness of the mat has never been an issue.
